In collaboration with Heartland Montessori Children's House, Shenzhen TreeENT International Clinic organized the first "Medical-School Collaboration to Protect Children's Health" Little Doctors Experience Activity for over 40 children.

Children's ear canal health management is often overlooked by parents. Common issues include improper ear cleaning, parents attempting earwax removal themselves, and children's fear of ear examinations - all significant challenges for parents!

For children aged 0-6 years, common ear symptoms include ear itching and frequent ear picking. Typical behavior: children often say "Mom, what did you say? Can you repeat that?"

*American pediatric healthcare standard:

Children aged 0-6 should receive professional ear examinations every six months.

TreeENT Health - Special Lecture by Dr. Jia Changhai

Dr. Jia stated in the lecture: Cerumen impaction may cause hearing loss, tinnitus, ear pain, and even vertigo.

When exposed to water, cerumen expands and completely blocks the external auditory canal, leading to hearing loss. It can also irritate the external auditory canal and cause otitis externa. Pressure on the tympanic membrane may result in tinnitus, and occasionally vertigo when affecting the middle ear.

After cerumen blocks the external auditory canal:

If small with remaining space in the canal: no obvious symptoms

If large: acts as sound insulation, causing hearing loss in children

Sometimes even small cerumen may fall deep into the canal, pressing the tympanic membrane and causing vertigo and tinnitus

Cerumen stimulating the vagus nerve on the posterior wall of the external auditory canal can induce reflex cough. Water entering the ear during bathing or swimming causes cerumen to expand and completely occlude the external auditory canal, resulting in sudden hearing loss. Water-expanded cerumen irritating the skin of the external auditory canal may trigger inflammation.

This event featured various interactive sessions:

"Exploring Ear Internal Structure"

"Little Doctor Pre-job Training"

"Shenzhen TreeENT Interactive Games"

"HD Otoscopic Examination"

"Hands-on Practice"

Through play-based learning, children enhanced ear protection awareness while overcoming fear of ear examination and cerumen removal.

At the end, Professor Li Guiqin from Shenzhen TreeENT International Clinic presented each little doctor with a TreeENT Health Little Doctor Certification. Throughout the event, children learned ENT knowledge while playing, established hygiene awareness from an early age, overcame fear of cerumen removal and nasal irrigation, and returned home with fruitful gains.
